Last year was a rollercoaster! Lots of ups and downs. One big down was my marriage hitting rock bottom.
But guess what? Even when things got super tough, a lightbulb moment made me realize I still loved my husband, and I want my marriage to be better. So, I decided 2023 would be the year to make our marriage great. Not just great, like, the best ever!
Why am I spilling these beans? Because setting goals isn’t just about setting SMART goals. it’s about connecting with what really matters.
Start with the end in mind: Franklin Covey Vibes
Let’s talk about planning you best year ever. Ever heard of Franklin Covey?
He is the one that is famous for saying, “Start with the end in mind.”
Now I’m stretching what he is saying not just for days or weeks, but for the whole year!
Imagine what you want by the end of the year. What do you wanna feel, do, and experience? This helps you figure out your real goals. It’s not just about running a marathon or writing a book. That’s great. But what is really going to light you up?
Super Focus Power: Rocking Your One Thing
Now, let’s talk about focusing on one thing. It’s like being a superhero with a laser focus.
My focus was fixing my marriage and make it the best ever, and guess what?
It created a ripple effect. Parenting got better, family time was way more fun, work started taking off, and my podcast was trending up! All because I focused on one thing.
Making Your Plan Real: Simple Steps
So, how do you make this super focus thing work?
Intentional Learning Time
Listen to podcasts and audiobooks about your goal when you’re driving or doing laundry.
For me, it was all about marriage, love and relationships. One of my favorite books that I read during this time was Jay Shetty’s 8 Rules of Love.
Planning Moves
Break your goal into teeny tiny steps. Then plan fun ways to make your goal happen.
I scheduled date nights using The Adventure Challenge Couples Edition. This kept things fun but took the pressure off of me to have everything figured out.
Keep Track
Use a planner to track your moves. They say, you can’t measure what you can’t track. Keeping track helps you to see not only the progress your making, but also when you’re off course and need to course correct.
I tracked my readings, podcast listens, and questions for my hubby.
Peeking into the Future: Early Thoughts for Your Cool Year
Now, you might think it’s early to plan for the new year, but thinking about it early is like being a superhero scout. If you wanna see how I plan my goals, check out my Trello board. It’s like a magical guide to set and track goals. Plus other additional boards that will help you end the year strong.
And guess what? You can grab this magical guide for only $7 instead of $47!
I hope these tips about setting goals for your best year ever. Remember, it’s not about doing everything; it’s about doing the right thing – the thing that makes you happy. A real happy mom.
