For the past few years, I have been using Halloween as a time for marketing myself as a dentist to the neighborhood. I have always brainstormed non candy ideas for Halloween so that I would stand out amongst the awesome neighbors handing out jello shots to the adults.
Last year, I took toothbrushes and attach my business card to it with a colorful piece of curly ribbon to hand out to the kids.
The response. Let’s just say last year I was afraid my house was going to get egged!
One kid actually got mad at me for putting the toothbrush in his bag!
This year I want to be the cool house in the street. I must say my neighbors go all out on Halloween.
One guy at the end of the street puts his grill out in the driveway and makes hamburgers and hotdogs every year. A few streets down one couple make jello shots for all of the adults. There is one couple that hands out full-size candy bars to the kids.
And when the kids come by and open up their bags for treats you will find more than just candy in there.
This year I want to help you, and myself, give out some cool non-candy treats for Halloween without breaking the bank.

Non-candy Halloween ideas
Glow sticks
Glow sticks are always a hit and will make the roads light up at night as the kids pass by your house. You can easily get a large bag of glow sticks for 5 cents apiece.
Mustache
These toys are not only cheap, but fun to play with. Even some of the adults might have fun with these.
Light up rings
Just like the glow sticks, these light-up rings will light up the night and definitely make the evening more exciting for the little ones. You can definitely get more bang for your buck with the glow sticks. But you can give out the rings to the bigger kids if you want to change things up.
Bouncy balls
Bouncy balls are another favorite for kids in their party favor bags and prizes at the dental office. I love that they are so affordable and something kids of many ages enjoy.
Whistles
The parents may hate you later, but the kids will love these noisy toys that you can get at 15 cents apiece.
Erasers
These are a favorite for adults. I don’t know how many kids use these any more these days. I think I am just used to seeing fun erasers as a prize when I was a kid.
Stamps
Kids and adults will like these stamps. Especially if it is an adult that likes to add a little fun to their bullet journal.

Sticky hands
Let me say that I absolutely hate these things. But kids love them! They are only on the list because of my experience with watch kids at the dental office pick this as their prize every time. They are also pretty cheap too. You can get them as low as 10 cents apiece.

Pencils are an old favorite that I see in party favors and giveaways. This is easy and on budget.

Stickers are another favorite that you can’t go wrong with. Especially for the little ones. And at 2 cents a piece this is a great choice to hand out instead of candy.
Crayon packs

Coupons
You can try purchasing coupons from a local restuarnt for a free drink or sandwich. Wendy’s used to have coupon books that had coupons for a free junior Frosty, but this year they will have Boo! books on sale on September 17th through October 31st.
