You may think making homemade baby food is too hard or takes too much time. But that doesn’t have to be the case.
As moms, we have a lot of things to juggle and it can often feel that there isn’t enough time in the day to do it all.
We all know that making meals from scratch has many nutritional and financial benefits. The same is true for baby food.
But with this knowledge, you may still be wondering if you can add in prep time for making baby food from scratch to your busy schedule.
It can seem like an impossible task, but it can be done.
Here are three ways to make time for making your baby food at home, especially for busy moms.

Weekend Batch Cooking Baby Food
Batch cooking will save you loads of time in the kitchen. And doing it on the weekend can save your sanity during busy weekdays.
Here’s how to do it.
During your regular grocery shopping trip, be sure to get everything you’ll need to prepare your baby’s food over the weekend.
Get fresh fruits, veggies, meat or anything you’ll want to use. Don’t forget any supplies you’ll need as well, like storage containers.
When the weekend comes, set aside an hour or two to batch cook, puree and store her food for one week.
Keep in mind that the USDA recommends storing baby food in the refrigerator no more than 48 hours and in the freezer for up to four months.
To make this work for you, simply refrigerate enough food for a couple of days and put separated meal-sized portions in the freezer so they’re easy to pull out and thaw in only a few minutes.
Next, pat yourself on the back because in about two hours you can have enough healthy meals to feed your baby homemade baby food for a week.
Puree Family Meals
Your baby can eat what the rest of the family is eating. If you don’t have two hours to spare on the weekend, this method may work better for you.
When preparing your family’s dinner each night, instead of taking the time to prepare something completely different for your baby, set aside some of what you’ve already made and puree it.
You can do this before or after seasoning it if you don’t think your baby will like the same seasonings.
It only takes an extra five minutes to blend or puree baby’s portion each night and you now have a homemade meal that didn’t take much extra time for you to make.
Mash and Feed
Another way to make sure you are serving your baby the most nutritious homemade baby food is to simply mash whatever is on your plate and feed it to him that way.
There are no extra dishes or containers involved and it takes even less time than the other two methods.
Be sure to make something for the family dinner that is easy to mash with a fork. Then you’re all set.
Put a little extra on your plate so there will be enough for your baby too.
Simply take a bite of food yourself. Then mash a few peas, potatoes or anything else while you’re chewing and feed your baby.
It’s as simple as that.
With any of these three methods, you’ll be able to spend more quality time with your baby, while still getting the nutritional benefits of making your baby’s food at home.
