I’ll never forget the day someone told me I was doing a good job as a mom.
My son was less than a year old, and we were at church when a sweet woman stopped me and said, “You’re doing such a good job with him.”
And you know what? That one comment made my whole day—honestly, my whole year.
The crazy thing is… that’s the first and last time I’ve heard those words.
At work, I get recognition. Playing sports, I get high fives. But in motherhood? The cheers are few and far between.
And if you’re nodding along right now, I know you feel it too.

Why Motherhood Can Feel So Thankless
Motherhood is beautiful, but it’s also hard.
You pour yourself into laundry, meals, work, school drop-offs, late-night fevers, endless appointments—and still wonder, “Am I doing enough?”
Here’s the truth:
- Your worth isn’t measured by whether your house is spotless.
- Your value isn’t tied to whether you cook gourmet dinners.
- Your success isn’t defined by how perfectly you juggle it all.
Your kids don’t need perfection. They need you.
You’re Doing Better Than You Think
“I want you to know I see you and I think you’re doing great.”
Let that sink in for a minute.
Even when the laundry is still in the basket.
Even when dinner is scrambled eggs for the third night in a row.
Even when you feel behind on everything.
You are still enough.
You are still a good mom.
Because you show up. You keep going, even when you’re tired.
You love your kids fiercely, and that love is what they’ll remember—not whether the house looked like a magazine.
The Reminder We All Need
Most moms I know don’t hear it enough.
But here it is, from me to you: You’re doing a great job.
When the pressure creeps in, when you feel like you’re not checking enough boxes, when you wonder if it’s working, come back to this reminder.
Listen to this episode again. Read these words out loud if you need to.
Because it’s true: you are doing a great job.
